Red teaming has always thrived on creativity, unpredictability, and a touch of chaos. But with AI in the mix, both the red (and blue) teams have to work harder to stay ahead. From automated generation of phishing campaigns, to contemporary defence evasion and deepfaking, AI is turbo-charging offensive security capabilities in ways we haven’t seen before.

AI is not only assisting in the development of new tactics, techniques and procedures, it’s also resurrecting old ones. If real world adversaries have these capabilities to hand, we need to integrate them into our simulations. The challenge is working out how to harness this power effectively and responsibly.

Security leaders now face the balancing act of integrating AI assisted adversarial testing to sharpen defences while ensuring reliance on AI doesn’t create more problems than it solves.
